Canyon View Park, Afton, WY

Proceeds from this year's CASVAR will be used to set up a scholarship fund for the children of Dr. Scott Bennett. Dr. Bennett, a club member and good friend was tragically killed in an avalanche on January 12, 2008.

We hope that we will be able to provide some assistance to his wife Jamee and 4 small children Philip, Samuel, Emily and Elizabeth from the proceeds of this ride.

About Dr. Scott Bennett

So please plan to ride in the Annual CASVAR on Saturday August 23, 2008 in Star Valley Wyoming. This event is sponsored by the Cycling Association of Star Valley. We have smooth roads, beautiful scenery and a bunch of great support people to ensure you have the best time. If you have never been to Star Valley Wyoming, you don’t know what you’re missing……..now is your chance!!!!

This beautiful Valley will be the location for a full day event that includes a Pony Express 20, Colt 45, Pioneer 65, Blazing Saddle 85 and Saddle Sore Century rides!! All that riding without leaving our valley. You can expect to see “old time” working ranches, mountains, crystal clear streams, horses, cows, sheep and perhaps some deer or elk. We guarantee you will see Bison on the 60 mile and Saddle Sore Century rides. But, don’t expect to see too many cars. We’ve got a really special place up here that we want to share with our friends.

On the day of the ride, we’ll provide you with a variety of breakfast goodies, fully stocked rest stops with gorgeous views, sag support and if you have time later in the afternoon, you can stick around for a real, down home cowboy BBQ. (This is going to be a real feed which is included as part of your early registration.) What’s a Cowboy BBQ? We’re planning on having things like beef and buffalo on the grill (chicken for those of that mind set), Dutch oven specialties, salads and deserts. Sign up early and get the BBQ with your registration.

There will only be a limited number of BBQ tickets available for late or day of event registrants. So, sign up early if you think you might want to eat.

Our afternoon entertainment will feature the Wasatch Back Band who will be playing everything from country to good Ole Rock and Roll.

The ride begins as soon as you've checked in. Registration & Check-in will begin at 6:30am. The majority of the riders will probably kick off after 8:00 AM. We ask that 65, 85 and century riders be on the road by 8:00AM. The Auburn rest stop (mile 43 on century)will close at 12:00 PM, the Thayne rest stop (mile 85 on century) will close at 3:30PM. The BBQ will be served from 1:00PM until about 4:00PM.

Out of respect to our volunteers, we cannot provide support after 4:00PM. If you find you are not going to be back at the start point by 4:00PM, please plan on shortening your route or calling for SAG assistance to help get you back home.

So, plan your ride times accordingly. Please use this chart to compute your latest start time and make sure you're on the road by then.

Early registration is accepted up to and including August 1, 2007. Late registrations will still be accepted after this date up to the morning of the event. Late registrations do not include the BBQ or event Tshirt.

We are confident that this ride is going to grow into one of the most popular events in the West. So, Cowboy UP and have some rip riding fun in the real West.
